Laura’s research and teaching specialty is in the emotional effector patterns, a purely physical approach to inducing, expressing and modulating emotions, informed by scientific research. Laura holds a rare master teacher certification in this method, which allows her to not only teach the method in UNCA campus classes, but in workshops around the country and internationally. Since 2007 Laura has focused most of her artistic and scholarly activity to the development and dissemination of somatic emotion regulation methods for performers, as well as for the general public, through workshops on in Chile, Mexico, Great Britain, Canada, and throughout the USA. Laura is the author of TEAM For Actors: A Holistic Approach to Embodied Acting, and The Emotional Body: A Method for Physical Self Regulation. She has also published three study guides for theatre with Penguin Press on Antony and Cleopatra, Lysistrata, and The Plays of Agatha Christie. Laura is the author of two plays produced by TheatreUNCA, The Place of the Great Turtle’s Back and Birds of a Feather.
